Crybaby

From the Unintentionally Hilarious department comes this doomladen article in the Guardian, written by a Concerned Twentysomething "Radical" with the unlikely name of Merope Mills. I won't bother fisking it here -- Emily has already done a bang-up job of that little task. I'll just synopsize it thus:

[WHINE] "What do you mean there's no Santa Claus!" [/WHINE]

Fortunately, I don't think that this female represents all of her age group, merely a far too large component of it.

Ahh...Merope Mills. Sounds like a shopping mall, doesn't it?

I'm afraid the geek gods compel me to wonder where Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, and Taygete are.

You made a big mistake. She'd never use the /WHINE tag.

The WHINE tags are mine, indicating that what she said was whiny.

Wonder if it rhymes with Penelope?

Yes, Andrea, I know.

You're not feeling well at all this morning, are you? :-)

I don't think it's appropriate to judge people you know nothing about, but the fact that this person is whining about all the fear and suffering that she's been forced to make in America's hegemonic and imperialistic war on terror has got to be one of the surest signs that she has never truly known what real sacrifice means.

Looks like our Moper missed seeing all those pictures of grinning Afghans going out to play soccer or get their beards shaved off.

Or perhaps she's just bummed because she hasn't yet found a brand of black nail polish that won't chip.
