sniff Oh, that takes me back. Let's stroll down memory lane:

1) What are all these books doing here? Are they yours? Have you read all of them? Why do you keep them after you've read them?

2) [On seeing me shop for a new journal in the bookstore] Oh, HAW HAW Are you going to write a book?? HAW HAW HAW

3) You want to be a what? A physicist? You mean, a scientist? HAW HAW HAW! Who would pay you to do that??

I was so prepared for the "blog blank stare" -- I write fanfic and go to cons. Blogs are just one more thing to explain to the mundanes :)

Hmmm. Don't want to sound like computer geeks, though, with an us-and-them kind of bunker mentality. I never liked the word 'blog anyway. It sounded kind of ... wrong. It reminded me of some kind of computer equivalent of a river of information jammed with tree trunks chewed up by beavers. A blocked river of information ... I don't know. I just didn't like it, and I guess I just gradually got used to it. But I think most people still have that initial difficulty.

I met a guy tonight and told him I write a blog, and he thought I said I had a "block" as in "writer's block."
