Note to the Metapop folks

Why the fuck would I want to "log in" to your service if by merely visiting your page without logging in I'm labelled an anonymous coward? Kiss my ass.

Oh -- and pale blue sucks much dee eye see kay. I preferred your original green background.

Design for Community sites examples of times when a person would want to remain annonymous, and it would be nice if there was not a negative stigma attached to it. If they want to allow annoynmous posts, then they shouldn't penalize the person for doing it, IMHO. Only seems fair.

The "Annonymous Coward" thing comes from Slashdot originally. "Annonymous Contributor" would sound better

As one of the "folks," I do agree. I've sent an email to Shanti pointing her toward your post because you have a very valid point.

Anonymous Coward has, as Mr. Harringon suggests, a long history on online forums that support anonymity at all - Plastic had a similar label.

And for such forums, where the anonymous access is often abused for trolling and abuse, it's very often perfectly accurate.

Thank you. :) For while I may be a coward, I am never anonymous. Or was that supposed to be the other way around?

Pale blue still bites the wax tadpole, though. Blech.

Just surfed in from Dustbury.com. Yesterday, I found myself at the same site and had the EXACT reaction!! I didn't stick around-- I don't need to be insulted. Thanks for validating my feelings! --Donna
