The big kaboom

Well. That's a lot of explosions. Peter Arnett sounds... giddy. Saddam Hussein's "presidential palace," about a mile away from Arnett's hotel, is being quickly reduced to a pile of dust.

I wish Tom Brokaw would shut up.

Every time I hear Brokaw, I think of Dana Carvey's impression on SNL... "Gerald Ford, dead today..." "Gerald Ford, eaten by wolves..."

That was your non-sequitur for the day.

Does Peter Arnett remind you of Uncle Fester?

No, Peter Boyle as The Monster in "Young Frankenstein."

On Saddam's palaces I am reminded of the comment Clemenceau made when he was shown the government buildings of the Raj in New Delhi. "What magnificent ruins these will make."
