This article is called Why Britain needs more guns. It is on the BBC website. There's nothing like the realization that one's own government no longer seems interested in protecting the actual citizens of the country it is supposed to be governing to clear the cobwebs from one's mind.

Posted by Andrea Harris at January 20, 2003 01:06 AMHonest to God, sometimes it's like a dream, isn't it?
Step 1: You can't have a gun.
Step 2: The police aren't going to help you.
What's next? A ban on deadbolts?
Posted by: Steve H. at January 20, 2003 at 11:28 AMA ban on property, I'm guessing. All people over a certain income gap will be directed to donate their dvd players and stereo systems to the poor, on pain of imprisonment.
Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 20, 2003 at 11:43 AMMan, I'm going to be all over the place today. After arguing (in another thread on this site)that the guy in Maryland probably doesn't need a gun, I think we should, as compassionate Americans, send over a C-5a Galaxy cargo plane to airdrop pistols and ammo to the terrified populace in England. It's the right thing to do.
