Hey, people with the Fellowship of the Ring extended dvd, this website has instructions on how to find the neat "easter eggs" hidden in the discs. There is the Two Towers trailer (which I notice shows scenes that were not in the theatrical release, so I assume they will appear in the extended release of that film), and an MTV spoof of some sort (I haven't watched it yet).
(Via Silflay Hraka, who also has implemented some sort of trackbacking program to work with Blogspot sites. How'd they do that?)
Posted by Andrea Harris at January 17, 2003 11:34 AMi'm betting the MTV spoof is the one from the MTV movie awards... if it's the same one i downloaded before, it's so funny!
and i knew it was advertised that there was TTT trailer somewhere on there... thanks for letting us know you can find it! :)
i'm going to be watching it this weekend anyway... my eyes are peeled! :)

Yes, that's the one. Quite funny.
Posted by: denise at January 17, 2003 at 04:43 PMI've noticed two things: one, the egg page doesn't mention the UK release, so I'll get back to you on that one; and two, you have a different cover to the DVD in the US to here (UK). Mine is dark green, sort of book-leathery, with embossed gold 'FotR' title with 'LotR' in small letters. Fancy that.
Posted by: Steven Chapman at January 17, 2003 at 09:15 PMHm. Actually, mine is like that too! I bought it at FYE (some kind of huge, Disney-fied every-media store they have here in Central Florida). It's the only one I've been seeing around here, and mine says it's for US and Canada only, so... odd. And the site does not mention the UK, unless they are including it in "Europe." Or unless everyone in the UK is getting the American/Canadian version. I must say neither box image that they show on the site looks like our boxes.

You sure you have the right blog, ma'am?
Not that I wouldn't like that.
Posted by: bigwig at January 17, 2003 at 11:36 PMWhen I use MT's (the blogging software I use) bookmarklet to post something from your blog, a trackback link appears. (Trackback is something MT blogs can do -- their blog is "pinged" and a link shows up in their trackback links from the blog that referred to them) But I think I have it figured out for your blog. You have this licensing system called "Creative Commons" that you link to on the side of your blog. That is the trackback URL that gets pinged. So maybe there is something in your account with them that shows the people that have linked to posts on your site. (I hope my explanation of the trackback thing makes sense -- I have only recently sort of figured out what it does!)
Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 18, 2003 at 02:36 AMI don't seem to have the MTV spoof on my (UK) version, but I found the TT trailer with the bearded one's intro. Definitely some scenes not in the theatre. Expect a 4-hour epic extended DVD, I guess. I didn't check out the hidden credits either - having sat thru all 25 minutes of the actual ones once you can forget it!
Posted by: Steven Chapman at January 19, 2003 at 10:34 AMYeah, the credits are hard enough to read on my 20-inch tv screen.
Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 19, 2003 at 06:12 PMThanks for the heads up on this, Andrea. I've bookmarked the DVD Easter Eggs page for future reference.
As for the MTV spoof: "My eyes, they burn!"
:-)
