There's a telling fragment in the report - they quote unemployment amongst Muslims in Luton as being 4x the average. I used to live in West Yorkshire (northern England). There was some sob story on the local TV news about huge unemployment amongst Asian immigrants in Todmorden (formerly a big textile-producing town). The two men they interviewed (both in their 40s) were subtitled, as they could only speak Pashto. I have seen middle-aged women in a shalwaar kameez get on a bus and have a heated argument in Bengali with Yorkshiremen of their own age who have absolutely no clue what the hell they're yammering on about (typical response from the back of of the bus: "shurrup an' sit 't fook down yer daft tart"). My next-door neighbour - lovely bloke, eight (count 'em) kids born here over twenty-five years, wouldn't hurt a fly, but his English was at about the level that my Spanish was after six months in Central America. I'm just reporting here, not analysing.

I work near Brick Lane in London, the population is most visibly muslime, BUT the entrepreneurs and workers are allmost allways Hindu, Sikh or Jewish! The only Muslime workers are employed in the hate bookshops that litter the area.

I've lived in the area round Brick Lane for the last seven years. The vast majority of businesses on and around Brick Lane are run by Bangladeshis, the vast majority of whom are Muslims. I don't know if Rob has ever been in to, for example, the Whitechapel branch of Sainsburys but unless Jews, Sikhs and Hindus have taken to wearing the hijab or calling themselves Mohammed, I'd take a guess most of the employees are Muslim.

If I were a so-called moderate Muslim I was be very scared about a major attack in the UK. They manage to get to 9/11 levels of deaths or more & the British tolerance will suddenly become the blitz spirit.

I can't understand why advocating the violent overthrow of a country's government is legal in that country.

I'm not sure about England, but is IT is illegal here in the US. But it's tricky to prove in a court of "law".
