THANKS FOR THE CASH, BEN

Wasn’t John Kerry meant to be more electable than some of the other Democrats?

Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, frequently calls companies and chief executives "Benedict Arnolds" if they move jobs and operations overseas to avoid paying U.S. taxes.

But Kerry has accepted money and fundraising assistance from top executives at companies that fit the candidate's description of a notorious traitor of the American Revolution.

The Washington Post concludes:

Kerry has come under attack from President Bush, as well as some Democrats, for criticizing laws he voted for and lambasting special interests after accepting more money from paid lobbyists than any other senator over the past 15 years. Some Democrats worry that Kerry is leaving himself open to similar attacks on the latest issue.

Maybe not. There’s only eight or so months left until the election. After covering all the rest of Kerry’s inconsistencies, there might not be time to deal with this.

Kerry is *such* a phony. Caught the tail end of a speech he was making somewhere yesterday and he was going on and on about RICH PEOPLE.

He was speaking in such a way to make you think RICH PEOPLE are a different species of people he can't identify with.

I wonder how he'd classify himself? He isn't exactly poor. When he moves into, and lives in, a middle class neighborhood THEN he can yap about the RICH PEOPLE. He lives with the mega-rich. He works with the rich and mega-rich. I wonder how much contact he has with non-rich people when he is NOT campaigning?

BTW:
He is one of my state's senators and it would be very difficult for me to list 5 things he has done. Kennedy is also one of my senators. Say what you will about Kennedy, but he does work for our state. May not like what he does, but he does work. (I'm not a Kennedy fan, but neither am I a Kennedy basher.)

Kerry was so boring that dems just figured he didn't have any serious flaws to be exploited. It will be fun to watch Rove and Co. aim their $100M guns on him in the general election. Kerry's last high point will be right after the dem convention when the polls will show him leading Bush. It goes downhill fast after that.

Benedict Arnold?

Hmm...lemme see...an officer in American uniform...fought bravely and with distinction in the service of his country...wounded multiple times...changed sides halfway through...

What exactly do you suppose Kerry finds contemptible about that?

There's nothing worse than a class traitor; and that's what Kerry is. Like many lefty millionaires (or millionaires' husbands) before him, he has drifted towards the big government side of the political fence because he isn't good enough to be a proper Tory.

If there's eight months left till the election there is no limits.

The bizarre thing is that Kerry needn't put the touch on his corporate pals; he, well, his wife actually, can afford to pay for his campaign by themselves.

But, one asks, how would that look?

So he asks his buddies and others to kick in to give his campaign a patina of passable "popular" support. The corporate guys will probably either get their money back if he loses or other considerations if he wins.

Man, what is it with Democrats and accusations of insufficient patriotism?

If I were John Kerry I'd be filthy f'ing rich but besides that I wouldn't be mentioning Benedict Arnold.
