Addendum to the what that the thing is not

I’ve come across something else that I must add to my list of reasons that are simply not good enough to allow the murder of Terri Schiavo: the fact that many people who are now proclaiming their support of Mrs. Schiavo being allowed to live are themselves distasteful to many citizens of this fine land — such as Randall Terry, Jesse Jackson, and various doctors who have “questionable” reputations — is not a good argument in favor of the kill-Terri supporters. Hitler himself was a vegetarian who professed to love animals; we still insist upon our children being kind to animals and eating their vegetables. The idea that someone would say to themselves “Ew, you mean anti-abortion freak Randall Terry is involved? Well, I’ve changed my mind — let her shrivel!” is just bizarre to me. Anyone who only would be on the side of life as long as only the Cool People were are frankly more fitted to the title “useless eater” than any brain-damaged wreck; I’d rather spend a lifetime in the company of Terri Schiavo than one hour in the company of someone so selfish and shallow. But that’s just me.

Hey, don’t be ripping me off.

I kid; it’s not an unusual observation to make, or at least, it didn’t used to be, back in the day before an internet chorus learned to shriek “Godwin’s Law! Godwin’s Law!” every time the name came up.

I plan to use Hitler and the Nazis more often. It seems to piss the right people off.

I’m with you, Andrea. People suck. My current favorite song, “People Ain’t No Good” by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, off the Shrek 2 soundtrack, seems to fit the mood and situation just right…

It ain’t that in their hearts they’re bad
They can comfort you, some even try
They nurse you when you’re ill of health
They bury you when you go and die
It ain’t that in their hearts they’re bad
They’d stick by you if they could
    But that’s just bullshit
    People just ain’t no good

I think it’s safe to say that the Schindlers don’t dictate who is allowed to believe (in) their side of the story. Fellow traveler arguments are about as unthinking as, say, quality of life, therefore discrediting the invoker even further.

I couldn’t believe it …somethin’ that me & ol’ Jessie J finally agreed upon.

Somthin’ so stinking egregious that even the Reverand J’ has recalled his true core beliefs.

…I, umm, well - yeah I probably am being naive here - but I’m gonna give him a pass for awhile; I don’t think this was political. This time.

Jessie Jackson finally remembered there are certain things that are The Right Thing To Do. And then did ‘em.

…and I - sincerely, thankfully, appreciatively - applaud him for it. No bs.
