For instance, I had never encountered this word before. But I must say it describes me rather well.

Aldous Huxley wrote an essay on this subject, which historically has been associates with monks.

Hmm, spiritual despair, a refusal of grace, a bargain with nothingness, really does sum up most web citizens (self included) in a nutshell. That or any NYT/WP reporter. Yikes, what company. It is never to late to end it all.
