I have very little to say about the Bush Liiieeedddd!!!™ pseudo-controversy. For one thing, I don't care. For another thing, other people have already said plenty. So far I like Steve H.'s take the best.
Posted by Andrea Harris at July 20, 2003 02:15 PMThanks, Andrea! I think the Democrats have really embarrassed themselves this time. More than usual, I mean.
Posted by: Steve H. at July 20, 2003 at 03:15 PMI know. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion, isn't it? It's too bad: if they pulled themselves together, there are issues they could actually run on. But they are betting on revenge instead. I do think that the supply of disgruntled "Clinton for King" voters is lower than they think.
Posted by: Andrea Harris at July 20, 2003 at 11:34 PMConservatives for the most part have done a reasonable job of marginalizing their dinosaurs. The liberals will need to do the same with their "'68 generation" to be widely viable. It's unfortunate - there's a huge opening for a hawkish no-government-bloat candidate (in either party, but I won't be unrealistic about any Republicans challenging Bush successfully) in 2004, and nobody's taking it.
