PETA goes after Peter

Amitai Etzioni, whose blog you should have in your blogroll (because I say so! do not question me!) has discovered PETA's latest campaign. Obviously they weren't getting enough of a rise out of people with their other campaigns.

But seriously: of course they have an 800 number you can call to get the so-called statistics that prove their case. Perhaps someone will ask them why meat-eating populations didn't just die out ages ago, leaving us a race of happy, peaceful, hot-to-trot vegans. And the "people didn't eat as much meat then as now" argument won't wash -- if all meat is murder now, and bad and evil, it was the same then, right? Whatever -- I can't go any further in trying to understand the convoluted mental spasms that resemble thought in the minds of PETA activists.

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

This is when I or someone ask the obligatory question: if we're not supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

That does it. I've had it with the blind "Kingdom-ism" of PETA, vegans, vegetarians, and their animal-centric orientation. Are not plants beings, too? Do they not have life? We must end the tens of thousands of years of exploitation of other forms of life. I insist, nay, I demand that the government stop all other activity in favor of developing completely artificial, non-exploitive forms of alimentation. And now I'll just go splash some red paint in the produce section of my local Whole Foods.

Jack, to follow up on that in the spirit of this site, I just had a vision of Treebeard squashing an obnoxious vegan from PETA under heel.

Don't the PETA people realize that on a body-count basis they are just as guilty as we omnivores? Think of all those poor defenseless bacteria! Who will stand up and call for PETA to commit hari-kiri out of shame at daily destroying thousands of these innocent lives?

This is such bullshit. I eat nothing but red meat (sometimes hacked, dripping, from the living animal itself) washed down with beer, and I am known far and wide as a love machine of such HUGE proportions that women worship me like a pagan god. I am like a honky Barry White. It is awesome to behold.
