Posted by Andrea Harris at March 5, 2003 01:46 AMThe stories in that book look to have been assembled from a variety of sources, and I'm positive that at least one of them (the source of "Freckles" and "The Magic in Seven") was a reading textbook that I used in the first grade around 1975.
We were tracked into different groups according to ability, and most of the kids were using a far more elementary text called "A Duck Is A Duck." I remember wondering when my group would get around to "A Duck Is A Duck" and being baffled that it never happened.
