Jesus Christ pose

Dipnut introduces us to one Ben Granby, Peace Activist®. Ben's got a blog. Ben's pseudonym is the name of a nerve gas. Ben's in Baghdad. Ben's worried about health care coverage in case one of the US military's missiles get him (or some irate Iraqi person does first). Ben used to be in a band called Quisling. (Ben thinks that the reign of Vidkun Quisling in Norway was that country's "finest hour.") I tell you, Ben is some kind of freak.

You know what? I think Ben needs to be introduced to this guy. The results would be... interesting.

To be fair, it seems that he is not really a Nazi, just a dude with a craptacular sense of humour. (Sorry for the language here, this dude puts me in mind of my favourite 17-year-old.)

Introduced to raed? If there's any justice in the world he'll be introduced to the business end of a JDAM.

Ben's too old to be acting like a high-school kid. He's in a foreign country, run by an inimical government body, and he's treating it like an outing with his activist buddies to bother the old people leaving Starbucks.

Ben is a moron and deserves the JDAM that will end his life. Nice soundgarden reference, though...

Gotta keep up my street cred. ;)

What I find fascinating about people like Ben is that they will fondle a dictator's weapons while claiming to be a pacifist. Hanoi Jane must be so proud.

Ben does notice that the peace activists are being used by the Iraqi government, and he finds it distasteful when Iraqi children proclaim their desire to die for Saddam. However, he thinks he's performing a service by telling us that Iraqis are human beings just like us! Only with no desire for freedom.

I hope he stays in Baghdad -- he plans to hide in his hotel during the fighting -- so he can talk to Iraqis after Saddam is deposed. Perhaps he'll get a fuller view of Iraqi opinion when the secret police have taken mandatory retirement.
