Notice that the debate has already shifted from "Iraq is clean" to "Inspections are still better than war."

No! No!

We need a tougher regime of inspections!!!!

Because inspections prevent war and help children and other living...

Er... I mean...

Powell's a big stupid liar! Yeah that's it!!

Dean,

I believe the "tougher regime of inspections" is, at this moment, assembling in Kuwait. ;-)

Free Voices of Iraq is a series of perspectives published by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies in which Iraqi democracy and human rights activists speak out about the suffering of the Iraqis under Saddam Hussein, their desire to be liberated, and the prospects for bringing democracy to a post-Saddam Iraq.

I'm seeing stuff like this Who (and why) is he trying to convince anyway? The US is going to bomb
Iraq, for no other reason than because Bush wants to.
in reaction to Powell's presentation on email lists I belong to.

I think it would take video of Saddam killing babies with his bare hands to get through to these people. And even then, I wouldn't count on it.

I think you're right.

Even a notarized letter from Saddam, accompanying the picture of him and Osama with a mountain of weapons of mass destruction AND hand-killed big-eyed Iraqi children wouldn't matter, because: Bush bad, Amerikkka bad, anything against them good.

"The fascist US regime under The Shrub drove Saddam into eating the babies! If we leave Iraq alone, he'll stop chowing down on the infants! What's the big deal? The world is overpopulated anyway!"

See how I made a plaintive cry for peace through isolationism, took a shot a Bush, used the word 'fascist', and turned it into another issue (overpopulation) all in one shot? Once you figure out the 'radical' method (running around in circles and changing your argument every five seconds), it's easy.

What is WRONG with you people? Here the Left is, trying to save our collective souls (and by "our", I mean all of humanity, not just us icky Yanks), and you're making fun of them!

Besides, the real claim would be that Saddam had to eat babies because of our unjustified sanctions, that the babies are deformed from the depleted uranium we'd scattered all over, and that George W. Bush was profiteering from both the sale/production of depleted uranium rounds AND the smuggling of A-1 sauce to make babies palatable (just like Grandpa Prescott Bush did for the Nazis).

At least get the arguments right. Sheesh.

And Nellie is at it again -
"Mandela said chief UN weapons inspectors Hans Blix and Mohamed El Baradei were the only ones with the authority to determine whether Iraq was complying with U.N. resolutions, regardless of what Powell said."

I thought inspectors were supposed to report on their inspections, I never knew they had power to specify what reaction to the reports must be and ignore all others.
