Analyze this

Apparently the only reason I have for questioning what I saw as a rather presumptious statement is

Just went over to your own blog and noticed that you've been posting a bunch about how things aren't going right in your life. You're pissed off, bent out of shape, spoiling for a fight. Sorry that it hasn't been roses for you, but if you're looking for a flame war to vent some frustration then you can just take it somewhere else.
(From the comments to this post.)

I do so love being subjected to cheap psychoanalysis. Notice I did not engage in any personal attacks on Mr. Rummel; I merely dared to question what looked to me to be a sweeping statement. He answered my question, and could have stopped there, but he didn't -- he had to go on and make unwarranted assumptions about my personal life based on a cursory reading of a few of my blog entries. Mr. Rummel, the only one who seems to have a problem with boundaries and starting fights is you.

Eh-it's one of those post-holiday weekends when there is nothing to look forward to for months. No letup until Easter. It's a good time to pick fights since we've got months to work it all out. Or am I projecting?

I just don't appreciate my posts about my personal life being used by a stranger as a way to out-argue me in some otherwise unrelated subject, or shut me up, or whatever it was he was trying to do.

You definitely have a valid point.

Sorry - I'm in a pissy & prickly mood myself. I can't tell you why. I was feeling great four hours ago. Oh, yeah -- I'm back in the shitty city, and here I am working out my own issues in your comments. Sorry to be a boor. I owe you an apology, and now you have it.

Go out and have a superb week. I mean it. Life is too short, blah blah blah...

Oh Scott, I'm not mad at you! ;) I'm in a good mood, really. School has started, and I got my money back, or they will be as soon as it is disbursed. (They gave me an "extension," whatever that means. Ehhh... probably I'll have to write another letter for the remaining few classes I have to take before I am free! free!) Anyway, I now have many things to occupy my time, which is always good as far as the world's safety is concerned...

You can take this bitch, Andrea. Work the jab, and whatever you do, don't drop your left.

Can't we all just get along?

Sorry...but the situation called for some light comic relief. I hate watching two of my favorite bloggers come to comment-blows. Let's just chalk this whole incident up to some silly excuse like the barometric pressure and everyone be all friendly-like.

Hey, man, I don't know the guy. I've got no time for fights anyway. There's blogging to do. Those who can't take the heat, etc., etc.

Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 12, 2003 at 10:31 PM

It seems as if he is not worth knowing. I hadn't looked at his blog before, and after reading his post and the comments, I won't read it again, time is too valuable.

I know you weren't mad at me, but I kinda poked my nose in with a dumb sarcastic comment. I feel bad now. So, again, apologies and say no more.

In repayment for your kindness, I would like to suggest that you let us, your readers, write the next letter to the High Sheriffs. Lord only knows what we could come up with...

Posted by: Scott at January 12, 2003 at 11:38 PM

Oh, okay. (Who are the High Sheriffs? I think I need to go to bed...)

Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 13, 2003 at 12:29 AM

Whoever is "in charge." Just a term I picked up from years of Joe Bob. For example, I am High Sheriff at my ranch, where here at the house, I am but a peon. In your case, it's whoever is "in charge" of your funding...

Posted by: Scott at January 13, 2003 at 11:49 AM

Oh... I see. Well, I believe the State of Florida Board of Regents oversees the entire university system we have here. It's gummint funds I'm borrowing (no, I don't qualify for grant, since I had the gall to earn enough money to eat every year of my life since I turned twenty). All that state bureaucracy stuff makes my head hurt, but apparently the begging letter I wrote did the trick. I do have a lot of extra credits, typical of students who frivol around for years while they try to decide on a major. Long story... but I only have a few more courses and then I'm free! free!

Posted by: Andrea Harris at January 13, 2003 at 12:32 PM

Hey, I guess that makes ME High Sherriff? As if; no, I'm still a peon. My elected bosses could theoretically remove all the members of the Board of Regents if they wanted to, though, and state agencies DO quiver in their boots in fear on the rare occasions when the Legislature actually pays any attention to them, so if you ever want to go over their heads, it's worth a thought.

see, this is why livejournal has locks.

i'd hug you, Andrea, but i need both my arms. ;)

besides, "together" people just know better than to buy into most of the net.crap thrown at them these days - they take criticism from people who matter, and ignore people who don't.

and this guy - the poster who stumbled around your blog and thought he had a bead on you? - he's just in the latter catagory.

he's... CHEESE.
