Posted by: Jim at January 7, 2003 at 10:16 PMLike many Irish Catholics, I support the idea of a united Ireland, but don’t support the IRA. I often hoped the British would use stronger tactics to fight terrorism, because it really was destroying the North.
Last year, when Giuliani walked in the St. Patrick’s day parade, the cheers were deafening. When the IRA marched by, silence.
The IRA is suffering from that lack of support. These groups need support, and not just monetary support, to survive.
