My room has these two hanging ceiling lamps that look like they were installed before World War I. Anyway, they use one light bulb each. Yesterday one of them was out. Today it’s working again.
It snowed, and it snowed, and it snowed, and it snowed all last night and all morning and into midday and then it finally slowed down and stopped and the sun came out and melted most (but not all) the snow away. It will be gone by tomorrow I expect. No I did not take photos as I was too preoccupied with getting home from work and then getting to work from home alive, as the journey is one I must take in pitch darkness both ways (I work weekdays until at least 8 PM, and Saturday is the day I start at 6 AM).
Anyway, it’s been kind of a crappy autumn. It’s been wet and windy, and so many of the trees are already bare from having their leaves knocked off them by weather. On the other hand there were still plenty of trees that hadn’t even changed yet. They are saying this is the earliest snow in this area since the Osmonds were popular (that is, some time in the Seventies). No one was ready; I don’t even think they bothered to salt the roads. Fortunately the roads were mostly clean of snow and slush so I didn’t have any trouble driving, except for when the big trucks would go by me and throw up water and mist and crap all over my windshield. Grr.
I’ve got a lot of things I’ve been doing. Really — things besides sleeping, surfing the internet, and trying to keep my cat from sleeping on my keyboard.
Speaking of the cat, she has some new friends:
I couldn’t find her in her usual haunts and then I went out into the front room and there she was.
Anyway, among all the other things I’ve been doing is trying to chase down and put into written form the five or ten or so stories I have whizzing about in my head. And then I decided to join Nanowrimo. Which means I have to make up an entire new story since one of the rules are you can’t just use something you’ve been working on all along. So of course I let it percolate and something came to me. Now I have to write it. Dammit. Anyway, I’ve set up a special website for this and I might just link to it here someday. Stay tuned. Why am I doing this to myself? The challenge. To see if I can finish something for once that is longer than a blog post or even a short story. And I’ll probably work on my other stuff as well.
I’ve also been taking more photographs. I’ve become sort of an adoptive mother to orphaned film cameras, some of which would once have cost a pretty penny, some of which are just pieces of plastic crap. More on that later. More on everything later. I really need to get some sleep.
Argh, I did it again, stayed in bed too late. I really need to do something about my insomnia/oversleeping problem. Like, I don’t know, not drinking so much coffee and tea?
Ha ha! Just kidding. Life is impossible without huge amounts of coffee and tea.
Get home. Rush to desk. Turn on computer. Open browser. Check on favorite websites. Finish.
Realize a mere five minutes have passed. Feel mind glaze over with boredom. And it’s the weekend, when so many of my favorite bloggers inexplicably decline to post. I mean what. You’re off work. You have nothing else to do. Where are your posts for the entertaining of me? Huh? Huh? “I have a life.” “I want to go outside.” Shyeah, right. Like I’m gonna believe that.
