Comments: It's Only A Movie

Oh, crap. The entire Gibson family is a bunch of fundamentalist whack jobs and budding Ayatollahs. Wake up.

But Charles didn't say anything about the Gibson clan's alleged fundamentalism. The subject is, I believe, whether or not Mel Gibson's latest movie is "historically accurate" or not. And the implied subject is whether it matters. To the first question I say "probably not altogether," and to the second I say "not really."

I think all the hoo-ha from both sides over this movie is at base great publicity for what would probably otherwise been dismissed as Yet Another Jesus Flick.

I suspect for some it's not so much getting worked up about the historical accuracy of the movie, but rather getting worked up about the historical accuracy of what the movie depicts.

Just curious... do you plan to go see it?

Well I think it's about time someone was willing to show who really killed Jesus. Scenes of that angry, long haired, pastel and earth toned, sandal-wearing, screaming crowd are sure to open many eyes to the TRUTH. Yes. Jesus was killed by hippies. Burn 'em all.
