Snow! Again
It started snowing last night, it snowed all day, and it’s still snowing now, after the sun has gone down. Everything is so pretty and white and the snow looks so fluffy and inviting, but unfortunately I still have my damn cold so I can’t go outside. Grrr. Also, I am trying not to think of how I have to be at work early Monday to open the office and they even gave me my own key. I’m just going to think positive: “Of course they’ll have the roads cleared. Of course I won’t slip and slide all over the place. Of course I’ll be able to get my car out from under a pile of snow… at seven o’clock in the morning. And I will be over my cold!”
Grrrr.

Well, it depends how you feel about it. I hail from Europe, the cold part, and now living in OZ, I’m happy to see the snow behind me, sure it’s pretty to look at and marvelous to ski on but to drive on snow covered roads?
Thanks but no thanks.
As to 7 AM start, some of us have half a day behind us by then.
Nothing to be proud of mind you, I’d rather have the money to pay someone else to do it for me.
But if you have to do it, you might as well do it in good cheer I say, grumbling about it won’t make the day any shorter.
Hope I didn’t get your dander up by giving stupid unsolicited advice?

Hi,
You closed the comment on Dr Who End of …
so I’m O/T here.
Finally I had the time to watch the movie, I’m glad I took your gripes about the new doctor literally, I could only go less then half way through the first part, I find him to be an utter twit. Far too flippant for the role, not like his predecessors. And I don’t mean he has to be solemn or wise all the time, or anything like that at all.
Don’t know if he has inspired the writers by his character, or the other way around.
Whatever!
Will take your comments about movies and serials in the future seriously.
Ta, keep ragged up, I hear there is some cold weather your way.

It’s mostly my being sick that makes me irritable. Though driving in snow is the one part I don’t care for. Otherwise the cold doesn’t bother me too much — it’s below zero here now! (Fahrenheit) It’s nice and warm in the house so I’m staying inside.

I actually haven’t been able to watch too much of this year’s Whos to make a complete judgment — what I’m getting is from what I can see on Youtube (and that isn’t much). But I do agree that the way they wrote the character for Tennant is too flippant at times, and you can sense they want it both ways: they want him to be flippant and up yours to whatever authority figures the writers are having a problem with (which seems to be Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher, who seem to have become Bush 2 and Nixon for the Brits); but they also want to be able to have the Doctor brought up short for his “arrogance” for reasons convenient to the plot. The underlying theme is that keeping a human companion around is the only thing keeping him from becoming some sort of supervillain, which is completely against the character of the Doctor that *I* grew up with (that would be Tom Baker and a little of Peter Davison).
I have more to say on this but as I said I haven’t seen all of last season yet.

My Chief’s first duty station was Brunswick, Maine. A zero-dark-thirty pre-flight found him shoveling and scraping and warming up the truck “in the middle of the night.” It’s part of the reason we now live in NEFL. He kinda misses the early pre-flights, doing his walk-around as the sun comes up on the flight line, but the ‘getting there’ part made him plan on living South for this part of his life. He loves the mountains, but not THAT much.
As a “health” suggestion – I find I’m better off when the heat has to run if I also run a good humidifier. But I’ve also probably also mentioned that, sorry for any repeats.

There’s no more snow in the forecast for now (Sun morning), so you might as well get out this afternoon and do the prep work. Be sure to wear your Dr. Who scarf when shovelling the white stuff.
Tuesday does not look too promising as far as more of the frozen stuff. Ya gotta love mountain living. I’d prescribe my sore throat/cold remedy of one part honey-one part whiskey with a little lemon juice, but liquor is for rich folk. Good honey is not all that cheap either.

Yeah, the dryness inside has been very irritating to my nose. I feel better after a hot bath or shower, sticking my face into a cup of tea, etc.
In a little while I must go outside and clear snow away from my car. Grrr. (I wouldn’t mind so much if I weren’t sick, though I’m starting to feel somewhat better.)

I’d try your remedy but I’ve found that if I drink alcohol when I’m sick it makes my sinuses worse (alcohol tends to make my nasal passages swell, something I don’t mind putting up with when I’m well). So I’ve been drinking tea and coffee. Well I do that anyway.
